Im Wintersemester 07/08 und Sommersemester 08 lag der Schwerpunkt dieser Veranstaltung auf Fragen des Raumes. Öffentliche, soziale, filmische, digitale und installative Raumtheorien und -begriffe wurden anhand von unterschiedlichen Texten (David Bordwell, Helmut Draxler, Gertrud Koch, Norman M. Klein, Henri Lefebvre, Mark Rakatansky, Juliane Rebentisch u. a.), und ausgewählten zeitgenössischen künstlerischen Positionen (Dan Graham, Gordon Matta-Clark, Yvonne Rainer, Fareed Armaly u.a.) untersucht und gemeinsam diskutiert. Im Rahmen dieser Veranstaltung wurde im WS 2007/8 ein Seminar mit Norman M. Klein* (für die Studierenden des Ordinariats Kunst und Medien verpflichtend) und in Kooperation mit dem Institut für Architektur ein Seminar mit dem New Yorker Architekten und Architekturtheoretiker Mark Rakatansky abgehalten.
During the two terms (Winter 07 and Summer 08) we focused on questions regarding space and spatiality. Theories that engage with public, social, filmic, digital as well as installation-based issues of spatiality were presented and discussed on the basis of key texts (David Bordwell, Helmut Draxler, Gertrud Koch, Norman M. Klein, Henri Lefebvre, Mark Rakatansky, Juliane Rebentisch among others) and contemporary artistic positions (Dan Graham, Gordon Matta-Clark, Yvonne Rainer, Fareed Armaly). In the context of this program we offered seminars with Norman M. Klein (this seminar is mandatory for students of the Institute for Art and Media) and, in collaboration with the Institute of Architecture, the New York based architect and theorist Mark Rakatansky.
