The things we create and the things that create us. How we can share our personal experiences and our memories with the context of art. The talk will focus on the notion of filmmaking as a form of trauma therapy, the representation of the other in cinema and the ethical challenges encountered in making personal films and the shifting line between reality and imagination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Director\u2019s biography <\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Sara Fattahi studied law at the university of Damascus and graduated from the Fine Art Institute in Damascus. She had worked as a storyboard artist and animator for several networks such as Al Jazeera Kids and SpaceToon, as well as an art director for soap operas. In 2010 she started to produce and direct her documentary films independently. She finished her first short documentary \u201c27 Meters\u201d in 2013. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

She served as the Art Director of the gender project \u201cEstayqazat \u2013 She\u2019s awake\u201d (between 2014 – 2016) where she collaborated in researching and writing for independent short film projects and oversaw the production of several short films aimed at social awareness and change. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2018<\/strong>COMA\u2019 <\/strong>her first feature length documentary, produced in (2015), was granted the Regard Neuf Award for the Best First Feature Film at Visions du R\u00e9el 2015, and the FIPRESCI Award at the Viennale 2015, and has been screened in many festivals such as MoMA\u2019s Doc frotnight 2016, Berlin Critics\u2019 Week 2016, S\u00e3o Paulo 2016. 
Her most recent film \u2018<\/strong>CHAOS\u2019<\/strong> (2018), was awarded the Pardo d’oro of Cineasti del presente for the best film at 71 Locarno, the Extra-VALUE Film Award at the Viennale 2018, the Altered States Award at the Mar del Plata Festival 2018 and some other awards, and it has been selected to be screened at many international festivals such as IDFA 2018 and MoMA\u2019s Doc Fortnight 2019.
